The Australian Transplant Games take place once every two years, and have been hosted in multiple locations in Australia since its inception. This year, the Australian Transplant Games will be hosted on the Gold Coast for the first since 2002, and it’s not to be missed for one whole week of exciting games and events that will raise awareness and money for organ donation.

The Australian Transplant Games is one of the most inspirational sporting events in the country. The first ever Australian Transplant Games was held over three days in Melbourne in 1988, with 150 recipient competitors competing in tennis, table tennis, golf, lawn bowls, and quoits. Since then, the Australian Transplant Games has been held every two years in multiple locations across the country, and has done wonders for raising awareness and money for organ donation.

This September, the 2018 Australian Transplant Games will return to the Gold Coast for the first in 16 years, and will host a multitude of sporting events and competitions across the coastline. These will include athletics, backgammon, badminton, chess, croquet, cycling, darts, golf, lawn bowls, petanque, running, scrabble, soccer, sudoku, swimming, table tennis, ten pin bowling, tennis, triathlon, and volleyball. Living donors, donor family members, and transplant recipients are eligible to compete in the events, which draw attention to organ donation and provide the perfect chance to fundraise.
